Best High School Bronze Award

Congratulations to the South Beloit High School for receiving the US News & World Report "Best High School Award".  This is the third time the school has received this award.  Congratulations, we are very proud of your success.

South Beloit High School received the Bronze Medal on U.S. World & News Reports List of Best High Schools in the United States in 2012.

Blackhawk Elementary 2011 Spotlight School

Congratulations to Blackhawk Elementary School for earning the 2011 Illinois Spotlight School Award!

This marks the 7th year in a row for this honor!

This is an Academic Achievement Award for Exemplary Performance in Closing the Achievement Gap, Meeting High Standards, and Opening a World of Opportunities To read the article in the Rockford Register Star, click here!

The criteria for selecting Spotlight Schools are as follows:

  • At least half the students enrolled are classified as low-income students in 2011.
  • Schools must have made Adequate Yearly Progress for the last two years, 2010 and 2011, as required by No Child Left Behind.
  • In 2010, at least 77.5% of students met or exceeded standards. In 2011, at least 85% of students met or exceeded standards.
  • At least 50 percent of students met or exceeded those same standards in the two preceding years, 2009 and 2010


South Beloit High School has received PSAE results 2007-2008 school year and is pleased to announce that this year's seniors have made AYP. Test results for the 2007-2008 school year show that 56.1% of the students met or exceeded state standards in reading and  52.6% of the students met or exceeded state standards in mathematics. The scores are up dramatically from 47% in reading and 31% in mathematics the previous year. We would like to congratulate the seniors on their performance and thank all those whose hard work has lead to these results.

2008 Academic Improvement Award!

The Academic Improvement Award honors 153 schools, only 14 high schools, across the state that have posted substantial gains and demonstrate exemplary progress.


U.S. New and World Report


South Beloit High School was again recognized in the Best High Schools of 2012 Search in U.S. News and World Report Magazine.  SBHS earned the Bronze Medal Award based on academic and enrollment data in 2009 and again in 2012.

South Beloit was recognized by the member schools of the NUIC for exhibiting the best sportsmanship in the East Division during the 2007-2008 Boys' Basketball season.  Congratulations to Matt Parker and Richard Borre as well as the Boy's Basketball team for representing South Beloit in such a positive way.
